Corsets- A Waste Of Time?

My Experience
Now, I don’t know where, like all the other blogs, to start on the advantages or the disadvantages of corseting. The way I see it, for a product to be approved it is all down to an individual when they finally try it out- you can only take opinions of others into consideration but make an actual judgement yourself after the experience.

The Past
For me, corseting actually played out well in shaping my body. I will try and not bore you and instead get straight to points, but first we shall rewind back (trust me, its crucial) and I’d like to describe to you how I looked last year before I was met by a corset. The more I think about it now, my body was proportioned in the way that my stomach would stick out a lot leaving my hips looking smaller. I had a lot of back fat back then so when you would see me from the side you would also see how I’d look heavier from the top, with butt and legs looking petite. I personally didn’t like my current figure, as my ideal (which I think was mostly influenced through media) was the curvy figure that we most of us use corsets for.
Now don’t get me wrong. I didn’t get a flat stomach just from corseting. I had first started to exercise at the age of 15, which was very effective for me as it toned up many parts of my body and earned me faster metabolism. Don't forget - no gym experience was involved and i only achieved many of my fitness goals through YouTube videos. So, in my opinion exercising and eating well played a major role which was also followed by determination and being persistent.
Although my body was doing the work for me as I started to look more fit. I still looked for a shortcut into achieving the ideal self, just like many other people. I went for corseting as I was first made aware of it through social networking sites such as Instagram, and of course the famous Kim Kardashian. I looked into it, and decided that despite all, I wanted to experience it myself.
The Present
Returning to the presence, I have now been using corsets for almost 6 months now. If you are thinking, NO, just no I did not use it every day. Reason being is that it is exhausting yourself and one thing you need to remember despite all while going for a body transformation is to love yourself along the way. It is the only way you can get the best results through, trust me. That means to take things slowly because going all out can lead to health problems. As for the results, I lost a lot of belly fat, mainly on the edges of my stomach which has helped to create that curve i have desired. I should have, but didn’t measure my stomach using a tape or weighed myself. The thing is, I don’t trust the future so much but the presence. You have to keep a mind-set and use just that to do your thing, mine was to create a better lifestyle so I didn’t focus on the measuring tape or scales. That was a lesson learnt. Visually however, I can differentiate that there is an obvious difference to my waist compared to before. Below have listed all the ways I have advantaged.
Advantages

( Morearty- Tumblr)
Abs are more prominent- woooooo to me!
I dare myself to wear a tight dress without having to worry that my bottom stomach pooch is visible. Like you know that part, its flat now… except when after eating.
Butt looks perkier *inserts giggles* Believe me, I have been working years starting from a flat butt and its been hard work achieving what I have now but corseting has allowed that extra push as it has put a lot more focus onto my butt on my body taking the attention away from my stomach.
Faster metabolism. I do not remember reading about this as a advantage from corsets, but I do think that having your stomach in provides you with more energy to move around. Its why those fitness trainers tell you to suck your stomach in duiring those ab workouts because you lose more weight.
Your body adopts the habit of sucking your stomach in. As there are yoga's where stomach is sucked in for weightloss, the fact that I was unconsciously doing that suggests that it is also another reason why you lose weight. You make your body get used to looking slim around the waist which is the focus part.
I believe that i lost weight mostly beacuse i would get full up easily while eating and having the corset on at the same time. I also liked how it made me feel lighter, so to keep my body in that state for a while longer i avoided eating a lot as i usually would.
Posssssture!! Cannot stress as much as I am trying to emphasise how much my posture has changed so drastically. I am able to stand straighter, don’t hunch forward. Which is really good as body language means a lot and usually a good posture is associsated with confidence. You radiate confidence when you stand straighter and don’t we all love the idea of being confident? Not just that, the posture allowed me look good in the mirror too, like my stomach would naturally be sucked in… I could see that curvy figure, finally.
But, if anything has advantages, it also has disadvantges.

(Wifflegif)
For me, the benefits outweigh the disadvantges but the bad things I experienced about it are as follows;
I would be left with marks sometimes after taking the corsets off. To avoid this, always make sure you get the corsets with the confortable edges so they don’t dig into your skin. My first one did, it hurt.
When your mind tells you you need to breathe, take it off. I once got really bad stomach gas and having the corset on didn’t help as my stomach was hurting quite a lot and the pressure on top just restricted me in breathing. So you see, the stomach compression that the corsets provide aren't always the best idea.
The results from the corset don’t last so long. I stopped wearing a corset for like a month straight witin the six months. When I decided to wear the corset again I could tell that my stomach was bigger and it took a little more effort to put it on just like the first time.
Useful Tips
I could say that corseting is safe as long you do not over do, and know when to stop and where your limits are. I am guessing that you have read this article because you are considering corseting, well I suggest you search into it as much as possible as more opinions and information are best through many different sources then through one. I would also like to add that to make corseting safe as possible maximum 4 hours a day is ideal. Don’t sleep with it, our minds can do tricks sometimes where we are not aware that we are having breathing difficulties while sleeping. Just DON’T, please love yourself.
So, coming to a conclusion about Corsets I do have to say that they do their job. They can be best used for occasions to wear underneath clothes or used to train your waist 2 months before you can finally wear that summer bikini, but it can never act as a substitute for diet and exercise.
So that was my story, my personal review, share with us below if you have any stories yourself! or maybe, I may have missed something out? And tell me whether you’d consider corsets?
